Press Release

Opening October 31st from 6-9 pm at
Jason Jacques Gallery
29 East 73rd st
New York, NY 10021

Jason Jacques will be introducing a new kind of horror this Halloween: a Horror Vacui of the Danish variety with a collection of new monumental works by artist Morten Løbner Espersen. Espersen brings fresh and exhilarating energy to the pedigreed tradition of Danish ceramics. His works can best be described as the bold, beautiful, and wily love children of Axel Salto’s organic forms and Patrick Nordstrom’s masterful glazing techniques. His body of work bespeaks a long term meditation on a form; tangles of writhing, fleshy masses surround steadfast, classically formed vases, all covered in brilliant glazes. His simpler cylindrical forms demonstrate a mastery of glazing on par with the best of the Japonists. Espersen received his education in Paris and Copenhagen and has since been a visiting professor and lecturer at some of the top design schools in Europe. His work is exhibited in museums all over the world. Please join us for the opening of Morten Løbner Espersen: Horror Vacui, October 31 from 6-9. You can’t get better Halloween treats than the grotesquely beautiful works you’ll be feasting your eyes on.
