Morten Løbner Espersen is one of the most successful Danish ceramics artists in the world. In his practice, he has shown how seemingly simple objects can simultaneously have simple forms and complex surfaces and vice versa. At Jason Jacques Gallery, Espersen will show his stoneware vessels that he has named after the moon shown alongside photos of the moon taken by NASA in the late ’60s. The juxtaposition of the art and the photographs reveal the deceptive complexity and inherent beauty in incredible objects that we have simply grown complacent with as a result of their omnipotent status.
