Photography cannot do justice to the complexity of the glaze on this remarkable ceramic masterpiece. The luster varies from 'Persian' turquoise to pink, red, green, gold, and every tone in between. An active world of shrimp, seaweed, and other sea life, depicted by etching and painting, thrives just beneath the surface. The overall effect is as festive and alluring as a month in Golfe Juan (on the French Riviera), where this vase was made.
Marks: Painted, Manufacture Clément Massier à Golfe Juan (A.M.).
