Glazed in a warm brown-black, Ursula Scheid’s bowl is made of a cylindrical body that seems to have been cinched inward near its rim. This inward movement from both directions forms a flared neck and a white-edged rim that is wider than the bowl’s body. Horizontal bands of a cooler-toned glaze can be found at both the narrowest part of the bowl’s body and at the base. The lack of ornament of excess in the bowl’s decoration allow the beauty inherent to the materials and the fineness of the craftsmanship shine through without distraction.
