Georges Hoentschel vase possibly modeled by Frédéric Des Champs. This Gothic inspired vase's octagonal form and juxtaposition between flat and carved areas suggests plants growing on a trellis, with acanthus leaves on the top frieze and lip of the vase and vines growing down below. This vase was formed in a mold and before it was completely hardened the artist carved in the foliate decoration. The greenish blue glaze, with areas of reddish brown, is a trompe l'oeil effect to make the vase look like oxidized bronze.

Marks: On the bottom with the entwined initials GH.
