Decorated with bas-relief horse chestnut leaves and seed pods and coated with a matte grey-brown speckled glaze, this vase demonstrates Cazin’s appreciation of the rustic aspects of nature. When compared to the genteel porcelains of an earlier era, the influence of Japanese Bizen ware becomes apparent here. This model was exhibited at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle.
