Pierced Pitcher
Pierced Pitcher

Description

Austrian ceramist Paul Dachsel designed this unusually shaped pitcher, made of hard earthenware and covered in a light green glaze. Its slim and elongated body gives the piece an elegant look, accentuated by a highly stylized handle that evokes flying buttresses from medieval cathedrals. The vase’s spout similarly recalls the shape of a gutter. This architectural piece recalls other similar pieces from Dachsel that play on the design of handles, thus giving each object an aerial look.
