In terms of all the porcelain skulls for which Aoki is best known, this one stands out the most because it is golden. The the endlessly rolling and warped surface renders the object at first unreadable, illegible to the eye— but once the form of the skill reveals itself, it shines like an aparition molten gold. Such decadent treatment of so feared-yet-revered an object as the human pulls evokes adds an almost mystical timbre to this work, for it has the air of a relic.
