This fantastic stoneware vase by Hector Guimard features a raised whiplash design and a gorgeous dripping mottled green glaze. The abstract quality of the reliefs on the outside bring a sense of three dimensionality to the design, drawing upon the conventions of Art Nouveau forms and aesthetics that predominated in the decorative arts in 1900. The subtle shades of green-blue of the glaze dripping down the surface accentuate the various effects of texture achieved on the outside surface.
