In recent years, the boundaries between art and design, ceramics and sculpture have become increasingly blurred. Not only in Japan, but also in other countries, clay is being viewed anew as a material for modeling, and the various possibilities of clay are being discovered. The plasticity and firing method of clay, which are unique to ceramic materials, as well as various contemporary elements such as the relationship between nature and human beings are brought to light.

People and animals have been motifs since primordial times, and these artists are bringing them to life by expressing the forms that come to mind while exploring the human psyche and animal instincts with their unique expressions full of speed, dynamism, and reality, while taking advantage of the characteristics of clay.

This exhibition introduces the cutting edge of earthen art created in dialogue with the soil, through works on the theme of people and animals by five artists from Japan, the US, and Europe who are currently attracting attention.
